With the project “Tree Palaver” Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung will produce an international series of stories that explore how humans relate to trees, and the possibilities these connections offer for sustainable health and wellbeing, gender equality, education, and the alleviation of poverty and hunger.

The project team have spent their careers trying to make complex relationships on this planet more visible and understandable, and to illustrate how health, culture, science, policy, economics, and other forces shape the world. Trees are ideal organisms to uncover some of these connections as they are also a metaphor for an important truth underpinning this
work: as humans we are all in this together, part of the same family tree.

The project will focus on change-makers in LDCs who are reconceiving our relationships with trees, and explore how their work improves livelihoods while restoring balance between humans and ecosystems. FAS aims to find models that suggest how the SDGs could be achieved, and that provide inspiration for all.
