What we do

We are proud to fund innovative and compelling journalism

The European Publishers Longterm Reporting Grant is a special edition of the Innovation in Development Reporting Grant Programme (IDR), a media-funding project operated by the European Journalism Centre (EJC) that aims to enable a better coverage of international development issues.

This grant programme aims to raise awareness of selected United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by way of supporting coverage of media outlets that reach significant audiences in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden or the United Kingdom in a regular rhythm over the course of one year.

The coverage shall take the format of a dedicated microsite or a dedicated website sub-page. Innovative approaches are awarded considerable funding, with an aim to support media outlets and high impact online publishing houses to perform thorough research and to develop new, exciting, and even experimental reporting, employing state of the art presentation methods and techniques of journalistic storytelling.

At a time when many media organisations face financial constraints, this grant programme aims to encourage them to go beyond their usual reporting approaches and thus set a new and distinctive agenda for development coverage.

The grant project is supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
